The Oct/Nov 2026 exam series is the most popular sitting for CAIE Accounting students in Pakistan. Whether you are taking O Level Accounting (7707), AS Level (9706), or the full A Level (9706), structured preparation over the next months will determine your grade.
This is the preparation plan I give my own students. Follow it systematically and you will walk into the exam with confidence.

16-Week Preparation Timeline
Weeks 1–4: Foundation Review
• Revisit every syllabus topic. Identify weak areas from school mocks and class tests. • Rebuild topic summaries with worked examples. • Focus on double entry, financial statements, and depreciation if these are weak.
Weeks 5–8: Topic Drilling
• Complete topic-specific past paper questions (not full papers yet). • For O Level: bank reconciliation, partnership accounts, control accounts. • For AS Level: correction of errors, incomplete records, partnership dissolution. • For A2 Level: cash flow statements, published accounts, ratio analysis, investment appraisal.
Weeks 9–12: Past Paper Phase
• One full past paper per week per paper (e.g., one Paper 1 and one Paper 2 per week for AS). • Mark strictly against the mark scheme. • Read the examiner's report for each paper attempted. • Maintain an error log — note every mistake and the correct approach.
Weeks 13–15: Intensive Practice
• Two full papers per week under strict timed conditions. • Focus on speed and format accuracy. • Drill your three weakest topics with targeted questions.
Week 16: Final Revision
• Review topic summaries and format templates only — no new learning. • Light practice (one MCQ set per day). • Sleep well, eat properly, and stay calm.
Topic Priority Matrix
Topic — O Level 7707 — AS 9706 — A2 9706 · Double entry and ledgers — Critical — Critical — Assumed · Financial statements — Critical — Critical — Extended · Depreciation — Critical — Critical — Assumed · Bank reconciliation — High — High — Medium · Control accounts — High — Critical — Medium · Partnership accounts — High — Critical — Assumed · Correction of errors — High — Critical — Medium · Incomplete records — Medium — Critical — Medium · Company accounts — Medium — Medium — Critical · Cash flow statements — — — — — Critical · Published accounts — — — — — Critical · Ratio analysis — Medium — Medium — Critical · Investment appraisal — — — — — High
Past Paper Strategy
• Use papers from 2018 onwards for the most current syllabus alignment. • Do each paper once under timed conditions, then once more focusing only on questions you got wrong. • For MCQ papers: aim for 25+/30 consistently before the exam. • For structured papers: check every answer against the mark scheme's level descriptors.
Cambridge past papers are available from your school, the Cambridge website, and reputable past paper platforms.
Exam Day Tips
• Bring multiple pens, a ruler, a calculator, and a pencil for diagrams. • Read the entire paper in the first 5 minutes before writing. • Allocate time proportionally to marks. • Show all working — method marks are generous. • If stuck on a question, move on and return later. • Check arithmetic in your final 10 minutes.
